“Eric was my creative right hand. Always extremely creative, highly organized and prompt. The work is top notch! As a result of our collaboration, we were able to make Beanpod Candles the number 2 candle brand in less than 3 years! I confidently recommend Britton Design to any organization. Eric is a true professional and a joy to work with on any assignment.”

Printing: I’m very comfortable working with printers. I also love the smell of ink. I enjoy the art of small letterpress jobs but also can press check large web runs of complicated direct mail pieces at 2am. My first design job was working for the American Umbrella Company, located in the garment district of New York City. We designed patterns for all those stylish umbrellas you would see on rainy days. A steel door separated my desk from were they silkscreened, steamed and built the final pieces. I still like working with patterns.
Photography: I have worked along side photographers throughout my career and have become a trusted partner on shoots. They even let me touch their cameras. I have done the art direction, prop styling, food prep and anything else that needed to be done to make the shoot a success. I have worked with tabletop and location photographers and videographers. I have art directed in many places including busy streets, speeding boats, up to my waist in alligator infested swamps and in helicopters flying backwards under bridges.
Packaging/POP: I have done a variety of package designs and POP displays and have worked with manufacturers to create the look and structure that fits the idea and budget. Some of my clients were green so I have built in a variety of recycled materials from reclaimed wood to recycled plastic and cardboard displays and pulp inserts.
Marketing: I started my advertising career in direct marketing and gained a strong understanding of marketing principles and how to get results and have customers act now. I can interoperate marketing strategy and develop a creative plan that leads to strong, integrated and successful programs for both print and web applications.
Design: I also have a true love for all things graphic. Color, type, texture, pattern, layout and imagery have always been a strong part of what I bring to my solutions. Tying those elements into a strong branded presence is something I excel in. It’s an exciting time for design, and there are great sources of inspiration everywhere. I always have an eye on what’s new and different, I can spot the trends, but I’m equally inspired from other seemingly non-related areas. Sometimes the back of a beetle or a stone on the beach can have the perfect pattern or texture to launch a new idea.
Team: I enjoy leading a team and I’m a hands-on player. My ability to direct others comes from knowing design and problem solving first hand. As a Creative Director for the last 3 agencies, I have managed several large and diverse teams of talented designers, copywriters, UI designers, coders, freelancers and production specialists. I have a passion for this work and I share that with my team members.
Organization: To arrive at great work in a short amount of time, you need to be very organized and focused. I have developed many internal processes to make the creative department more efficient and enjoyable. I have also picked up a few along the way. I have also led the in development and pitch work for many successful new business presentations and have supported the work with solid creative rationale and strategy to help sell tough clients.
Writing: As a Creative Director, I have also directed, edited and reviewed many talented copywriters. I can help shape the voice and tone good copy should have. I also write copy for many of my current clients.
Drawing: I often sketch pencil thumbnail ideas as the first stage of the creative development. I have traditional training as a fine artist so I am very comfortable with a variety of mediums. I started out drawing all of my concepts and find it a very fast and useful process even today.
Color: I have always had a very strong eye for color and pattern. I have had formal training in color theory and as a painter pursuing my fine arts degree have had a great deal of experience with tone, hues and saturation and color.
Programs: I am strong with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign and Quark and know Sitegrinder, Flash, MS Suite, assorted project management and accounting tools, and a variety of other audio and video programs as projects have required. I have a working knowledge of HTML, CSS and can understand and implement jquery, PHP and java script.
